Competition 2023

Our brand-new prestigious competition is ready! Over the years we have seen the best ice creams and mobilers go head-to-head for supremacy under the Ice Cream Alliance banner and now it is time for the best ice cream parlours to compete. This is Parlour of the Year 2023, brought to you by Antonelli. Has your parlour got what it takes?

BENEFITS
OF ENTERING

  • All applicants to be graded and given a score out of 5 scoops – scoop rating given as a sticker to be displayed in their parlour
  • Five finalists to receive additional certificate signifying their final position
  • Winner to receive a pallet of goods from Antonelli and funded PR from Borough PR 

General entry requirements

  • The parlour must be located in the UK
  • Registration as a Food Business with your Local Authority or Food Standards Authority
  • Only the registered parlour owners or an authorised person running the premises can submit entry
  • Must be a retail premise selling Ice cream and other commodities that has inside and/or outside tables or areas for customers to consume the products purchased at that sit (excludes mobile, carts, pop up shops or temporary premises that do not include areas for customers to eat ice cream)

JUDGING PROCESS

  • The parlour must be located in the UK

JUDGING CRITERIA

Parlour Info – 5 out of 100 total points

  • Includes: washroom facilities, table or counter service, number of staff, amount of seating etc

Technical Compliance – 40 out of 100 total points

  • Use of staff uniforms and PPE
  • Allergen control procedures
  • Product claims and verification – such as gluten free etc
  • Product labelling
  • Management of CCP’s from HACCP
  • Premise checks performed
  • Health and safety procedure
  • Staff welfare

Written statement – 20 out of 100 total points

  • Maximum 800 words
  • Description of business and its stand out qualities
  • Novel products, interaction with the local community etc

Portfolio – 35 out of 100 total points

  • Either a video presentation (max 4 minutes) or hard copy presentation (Max 8 pages)
  • Showcase the best of your parlour e.g., the parlour as a whole, staff working, cabinet displays, fund raising activities etc
