The National Ice Cream Competition is a highly esteemed event where the finest ice cream manufacturers from across the UK compete in a range of categories, all vying for the coveted title of National Champion.

How is the National Champion of the National Ice Cream Competition 2025 chosen? The competition follows a rigorous elimination process. Winners from selected categories first advance to two semi-final rounds: Best of Flavour and Best of Vanilla.

In the Best of Vanilla semi-final, champions from the vanilla categories go head-to-head to determine the finest vanilla ice cream. Likewise, in the Best of Flavour semi-final, the top contenders from various flavour categories compete to crown the ultimate flavoured ice cream.

The grand finale then sees the winners of Best of Vanilla and Best of Flavour compete, with judges selecting the ultimate National Champion.

Morelli’s Ice Cream Triumphs at the 2025 National Ice Cream Competition Northern Ireland’s longest-standing ice cream producer has claimed the top honour at The National Ice Cream Competition 2025.

Morelli’s Ice Cream proudly took home the prestigious Overall Champion title at the Ice Cream Alliance Awards Night.

Additionally, Morelli’s Ice Cream secured first place in the Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream category, triumphed in the Alternative Class with its Cherry Yoghurt flavour, and was awarded Best of the Best for its double cream vanilla ice cream.

Daniela Morelli-Kerr of Morelli’s Ice Cream shared her excitement: “Winning Overall Champion at The National Ice Cream Competition means everything to us, and we’re over-the-moon to have won in multiple other categories.

“Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream is one of the hardest classes to win, and the standard of competition was high, so to have won in that category and received Best of the Best for the same ice cream is incredible.

“The awards ceremony was an emotional evening for us all because of that. It’s always nice to come away with something from competitions, but we never expect to because the standard is so high in the industry.

“It was a special night, and everyone there – including our team – should be proud of themselves.”
