Fochabers Ice Cream Parlour scooped the award for best Chocolate Ice Cream for the third time this year, at the Ice Cream Alliance’s National Competition.
Fochabers, who are celebrating their 8th birthday, was set up in 2010 after Sheila decided she wanted a change from working in the meat industry. She had never made ice cream before but after renovating an old antique shop into a parlour, she set about thinking of new and creative things to entice people to Fochabers. Her innovative flavours include Haggis, avocado and curry!
Sheila makes all of the ice cream herself and is supported by her team of “Pinkies”: named so as the parlour front, as well as most of things inside, are pink.
Shelia says: “We make all our own honeycomb and brownies – anything that goes into our ice cream – here on site. Granny Annie’s honeycomb ice cream is our number one best seller, followed closely by our chocolate ice cream of course!”
When asked how she felt about winning the award for the third time, Sheila said: “I was totally chuffed to win again! Very shocked but extremely pleased.”
Congratulations to Sheila and all at Fochabers!
